Rötenbach Service Station on the B 31 federal highway, Germany

Due to the increase in heavy traffic on the B 31 Freiburg-Donaueschingen Highway, additional truck parking spaces are to be provided alongside the highway at a traffic layby with gas station and food and beverage outlets. Fichtner Water & Transportation undertook planning of the traffic facilities and drainage system. The traffic lanes and truck parking spaces are to be mostly of concrete. A separate sewer system was also planned for draining the trafficked area which also accepts water runoff from the gas station and business premises. For stormwater runoff, a treatment facility for heavily polluted areas had to be planned as a retention soil filter. We also took on planning of the pipeline trench serving both the gas station and the service area to accommodate drinking water and gas supply lines as well as for telecommunications cables.
