Energy and infrastructure concept for the “Smart Garden Campus Vaihingen”

Energy and infrastructure concept for the “Smart Garden Campus Vaihingen”

As part of the restructuring and redevelopment of the site of IBM’s former Vaihingen campus in Stuttgart, an innovative energy and infrastructure concept was drawn up which, in addition to a future-oriented energy supply, also investigated the aspects of “smart grids”, “smart homes” and “smart services”.

Through this concept, which takes the form of an areal grid, this site can be developed into a location with its own distinctive character that is fit for the future. In a multi-stage study, an economically sustainable smart grid concept was developed, which takes into account both present requirements and anticipated future constraints and conditions. The first phase comprised developing the site’s energy and infrastructure concept.
